광복회 LA지회 역사
광복회 LA지회의 전신인 미주 광복회는 1994년에 시작되었다. 초대 회장인 장영원 회장이 미국 서부 지역에 거주하던 한국 독립운동가 후손들의 모임을 조직하면서 출범하였다. 이후 배국희 회장이 14년간 회장직을 맡아 활동하였다.
2014년 7월 1일, 한국 광복회는 미주 광복회를 공식 지회로 승인하고, 명칭을 광복회 미국서남부지회로 변경하였다. 배국희 회장은 새롭게 출범한 광복회 지회의 초대 지회장을 맡았다. 이후 박영남 목사가 2018년부터 2021년까지 제2대 지회장으로 봉직하였다.
2026년 4월, 광복회 미국서남부지회는 광복회 LA지회로 명칭이 변경되었으며, 김혜자 지회장이 제4대 지회장으로 취임하였다.
History of Heritage of Korean Independence, Los Angeles
Gwangbok Association USA, the predecessor of the Los Angeles Branch of the Heritage of Korean Independence, was founded in 1994, when the inaugural president, Young Won Chang, began organizing meetings of descendants of Korean independence activists residing in the western United States. He was succeeded by Kookhi Bae, who served as president for 14years.
On July 1, 2014, Heritage of Korean Independence officially approved the establishment of the U.S. chapter, renaming Gwangbok Association USA as the Heritage of Korean Independence USA Southwest Chapter (광복회 미국서남부지회). Kookhi Bae became the first president of the newly established chapter. She was succeeded by Young Nahm Park, who served as the second president from 2018 through 2021.
In April 2026, the Heritage of Korean Independence Southwest Chapter was renamed the Los Angeles Branch, and Heaja Kim was appointed as its fourth president.
